Rolex Serial Numbers with Production Dates
One of the most common questions asked at AuthenticWatches.com is "What year was this Rolex watch manufactured?". On traditional Rolex models, the serial number can provide you with the year of manufacturing for your Rolex watch. However, towards the end of 2010 Rolex began scrambling or randomizing their serial numbers. You cannot tell the year of manufacturing with the serial number on Rolex items with scrambled serial numbers.
Depending on the year of your Rolex model, you can locate the serial number in one of two locations.
1 .Engraved between the lugs on the side of the case at the 6 o'clock, behind the bracelet.
2. Engraved on the inside flange/rehaut (inner bezel) between the dial and the sapphire crystal at the 6 o'clock position.
